ABOUT
BIO & STATEMENT
I am Pierre Thirion,
When I was young, I wanted to be a professional roller rider.
Obviously, it didn't happened, that's why I'm now a new media designer & artist.
I work as a
freelance interactive and graphic designer.
I also do some programming in HTML/CSS, ActionScript 3 and C++ (openFrameworks).
I like to work on multi-disciplinary projects involving technology, not for itself but as a tool to express ideas. Above everything, I like the "multi" part of the word "multimedia". It allows me to satisfy my curiosity by using different skills. I like to question the technologies surrounding us in our daily life.
I see each project as an opportunity to learn new things and meet new people.
As a designer,
I try answer my clients' questions with original ideas: from interactive to graphic design.
Since 2008, I work for different agencies, including: Publicis, Duke, Buzzman, 5ème gauche, La Chose, Sid Lee.
As an artist,
I try to answer my own questions in understanding the world we live in.
I like to create interactive pieces involving physical user interactions.
I like seeing people not just as spectators but also as actors.
I try to bring closer the Man and the Machine, by finding new ways for them to communicate, and understand each other.
I like to share ideas and exchange with people. That's why - between other reasons - I'm part of Lab212, a collective I co-founded in 2008 with some friends.
We share space, ideas, and we work together on experimental interactive installations.
I also like to help others to bring their projects to life, that's why I also teach interactive design (ESAD Reims, Penninghen, Gobelins).
Beyond all these things, I enjoy watching movies, listening to music, reading books, playing videogames, travelling, and all the other little things which make life interesting.
I'm also very interested in photography, you can find some of my pictures on flickr.

EXPERIENCE
After having worked in different web agencies (Concept-Image and Duke) as a graphic/motion designer, I then decided to start a freelance career in 2008. Back in these days, I also co-founded Lab212 with some friends.
Together, we work on different kind of projects: from interactive installations to prototyping and webdesign. We associate our skills to do some researches in interactive design.
Since 2008, we exhibited our work in France and different countries (UK, Spain, Morocco, Mexico, Columbia, Russia, Serbia).

Here's an hypertextual-fragmentary attempt to define who I am:
